ABOUT MIGRATIONOXFORD

The MigrationOxford initiative has been developed to signpost, highlight and bring together the numerous academics conducting research and teaching on migration within the University of Oxford.

Oxford is a world-leader in terms of innovative research into the causes and effects of all kinds of migration, forced and voluntary. In the last decade the study, scale and regulation of national and international migration has become increasingly significant. Migration, both of those seeking refuge and those seeking a new and better way of life, has become a central social, economic and political issue and one that is regularly discussed in public, political and media debate. Oxford researchers are committed to entering these debates through the production of high-quality research, the teaching of graduate programmes for masters and doctoral students and the dissemination of findings to policy and practitioner audiences.

MigrationOxford is an initiative led by the three major collaborating centres in the Social Sciences Division of the University of Oxford: COMPAS, IMI and RSC.

New network on Migration and Mobility in Oxford

From Michaelmas 2017, we will expanding these connections via the creation of a network across the University of Oxford to bring researchers of all aspects of migration and mobility together to develop research agendas, to foster synergies for future collaborative cross- and interdisciplinary projects, and thereby generate a deeper understanding of mobility.

The new network will organise regular networking events with talks, and publish material that will benefit those working on migration and mobility from across the divisions. We are also planning to participate in the Oxford Migration Studies Society Annual Conference in Hilary 2018.

If you have any comments or ideas, or would like to become a network participant, please do not hesitate to get in touch! Main contact is Lena Rose: lena.rose@stx.ox.ac.uk, or via the generic network email address: migration-mobility@torch.ox.ac.uk.
