Oxford has recently applied to be recognised as a University of Sanctuary

In this article, Alexander Betts, Professor of Forced Migration and International Affairs, Director of the Refugee Studies Centre, and Associate Head (Graduate and Research Training) of the Social Sciences Division, discusses how the University is striving to create a community of welcome for refugees and invites staff to attend the Sanctuary Fair on 11 May.

Oxford Sanctuary Fair 11 May 2023

Oxford’s first town-and-gown Sanctuary Fair: a free, full-day event at Oxford Town Hall, will take place on Thursday 11 May. Organised by Asylum Welcome, and the Refugee Studies Centre, it is open to everyone and provides an opportunity to learn more about refugee issues and how we can all make a difference. The fair will include panel discussions and interactive workshops featuring students, academics, activists, politicians, community leaders, and influencers, many of whom have experienced displacement first-hand. Learn more about the fair here.
