In light of relevant political, economic and cultural factors, the discourse on migration and diversity has become increasingly polarised and fractured in recent years. This workshop will seek to examine relevant concepts, principles and frameworks that assist in addressing the foundational approaches toward fostering inclusion and prosperity in diverse urban settings, going beyond notions of assimilation or bridging social capital. Bringing together academics, practitioners, artists, and community members, the workshop will explore the ways in which diversity and urban space unfolds within broader processes of social transformation.
Together, we will explore:
Methods and experiences of knowledge co-creation in small urban settings with migrant communities
Conceptual frameworks for rethinking identity and belonging in the urban context
The role of the arts in shaping urban life and identity
We welcome those with relevant experience to share their work and insights at the beginning of the workshop, contributing to the collective dialogue.
