Robin Cohen and Nick Van Hear are migration scholars who were influential in the emergence and expansion of migration studies at Oxford. They are currently compiling a history and review of the development of this field at Oxford, focusing first on the period roughly from the 1980s to around 2000.

During this event, they will present their perspective on this period.

The second part of the project will look at the more recent unfolding of migration studies at Oxford from around 2000 to date. During this event, students, early- and mid-career researchers are invited to suggest ways to look at the recent evolution and current state of migration studies. A broader aim is to reflect on the political economy of knowledge production in this field.

The event will begin with a short presentation by Robin Cohen and Nick Van Hear on the early, formative period, which is followed by discussion and refreshments.

This event is open to students and migration researchers at all stages of their careers, especially early and mid-career researchers. Due to limited capacity, please register here if you intend to attend.
