Reframing Migration Narratives

Oxford Migration Studies Society is delighted to invite you to join the annual Oxford Migration Conference, “Reframing Migration Narratives”. Organised with the support of Migration Oxford, this one-day conference convenes scholars, early career researchers and post-graduate students across disciplines to present new and ongoing research projects.

Discussions will engage with stimulating insights on immigration and refugee (re)settlement, agency and identity, gender-based narratives, media discourse, humanitarian programs and border regimes. The overall goal of the event is to establish an ongoing network of students, scholars and organisations working in the field of migration more broadly.

The conference will conclude with a special film screening of The Migration Blanket, which depicts the detrimental effect of climate change on the lives of girls and women globally and calls for climate justice. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, award-winning international artist and human rights activist Salma Zulfiqar.

The event will be held in a hybrid format, hosted live in Oxford at the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology at 64 Banbury Road Oxford (Google maps) and live-streamed via Zoom.
