Yamina’s work focuses on understanding the health of migrants and refugee populations within the UK in order to address health inequities and to inform health policy and service planning. She is particularly interested in the wider determinants of health such as structural xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia, and how these impact upon the health of migrants. In her work, Yamina collaborates with health policymakers, individuals with lived experience of migration and NGOs providing healthcare to migrants excluded from mainstream health services. She is particularly keen to develop interdisciplinary partnerships to better understand the impact of wider determinants on health.
