The Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), in collaboration with Migration Oxford, is delighted to host the second session of its new OICSD Book Talks series—spotlighting researchers working on India across disciplines.
In this session, we welcome Prof. Nicole Ranganath (UC Davis) for a discussion of her acclaimed new book, “Women and the Sikh Diaspora: Music and Mobility Across the Seven Seas”. Drawing on rich oral histories and fieldwork, the book explores how Sikh women have used musical traditions to sustain cultural identity and navigate global migration across generations. Prof. Ranganath will be in conversation with Dr Priya Atwal (University of Oxford).
This conversation will be of interest to audiences across diaspora studies, gender, history, and migration. All are welcome.
