Benedetta’s work focuses on experiences of mobility, deportability, border-enforcement, and border-resistance. She is particularly interested in exploring how such experiences interact with local contexts, histories, and agencies in the spaces where refugees are forced to prolonged and undesired stays. Her postdoctoral work contributes the project ConflictNet, which investigates the ways social media, images and narratives are changing ties between migration nodes and diaspora networks and affecting decision-making processes regarding migration in East Africa. Before joining the University of Oxford, Benedetta researched refugee struggles in the Western Balkans, Italy, UK, and in the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
