Kate's work focuses on issues of access to asylum and the use of carceral control. Her work examines efforts by 'refugee receiving countries' to externalize their responsibility to vulnerable migrants. Her dissertation project is focused on the United Kingdom and the use of the Bibby Stockholm barge as a site of migrant accommodation. Kate is also a researcher at the Haven Asylum Lab in Scarborough, Canada.
