Lucy is currently working on a research and knowledge exchange project around understanding migrant destitution in the UK, with a particular focus on the ‘No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)’ immigration condition. Lucy also works on the Measuring Irregular Migration (MIrreM) project, exploring strategic approaches to regularisation for undocumented migrants in Europe. Her research interests include migration, poverty, inequality, sociology of childhood, children's rights, transnational families, participatory methodologies and co-production.

Before moving into research, Lucy worked with migrant children and families as an advocate, service manager and policy adviser, helping amplify the voices of people with lived experiences of the immigration and welfare systems. Lucy is particularly interested in working with non-academic partners, including people with lived experience as co-researchers as well as with local and national government and the third sector, to improve policy, practice and research.
