I am an education specialist with research interests centred around identifying the mechanisms that foster equity and inclusion in education for the integration of immigrant and displaced children across Europe and the Middle East. The ultimate goal of my work is to inform local and global policies that support beneficial pedagogical practices within educational institutions as well as the homes of children. Using mixed methods in research, I previously investigated educational resources available to immigrant children across Europe drawing on the indicators of family socioeconomic background and demographic characteristics, examined inclusive school practices supporting the ethnic identity development of immigrant children, and contributed to the development of risk models predicting the learning losses of refugee children in post-pandemic Turkey.
