Vidya's work focuses on South Asian women's experiences of European 'assisted voluntary return and reintegration' (AVRR) practices. Using ethnographic and narrative research methods, Vidya is interested in documenting how migration law and policy are experienced in everyday life. She is also interested in examining migration governance within communities and transnational settings, including the roles of non-profit and religious organisations in implementing AVRR programmes in the UK and South Asia. Before Oxford, Vidya worked in migrant rights’ advocacy in London and Greece.
