Yousef’s work focuses on the educational trajectories and pathways of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, and how they navigate new school environments and educational systems to achieve their educational goals. Yousef is particularly interested in understanding in how unaccompanied asylum-seeking children manifest 'educational resilience' and what socio-ecological factors enable them to do so. Yousef’s research is driven both by their interest in mixed methods research design and their passion for effective provisioning of education and social care services to vulnerable child and youth populations. Through their research, Yousef has explored the educational experiences of unaccompanied refugee students in Greece and Jordan.
